Dear Dick, Try "Commercial Vehicle Crashes" Law Order August 97 by Gregory Gavesen.
The rear axles have brakes designed to work with a heavy load. When the Trailer
is missing, the brakes are still there but with no weight. They can lock up very
easily. As you know, skidding tires want to lead. Therefore, there is little
laterial stability with these rigs. There have been many accidents becouse of
this.
