Dan,

A question not directly related to your original needle slap issue: How was the 40 mph impact speed from crush determined? I assume that the collision involved some underride and passenger compartment intrusion, which means that the entire frontal structure of the passenger vehicle did not engage anything. We have done underrides on the sides of trailers where the car basically went all the way under at 30 mph. For rearenders, the strength and integrity of the trailer underride guard can play a significant role.
