The delta V is the speed in miles per hour that contains the equivalent energy that the vehicle experienced in the collision. To arrive at an accurate delta V, the energy from the initial impact (Damage) mnust be added to the energy required to move the additional distance and to do any damage to the other object. The law of cosines, restitution and vectorial addition can be used to sum up the Delta V.
