Fords are equipped with a killer switch (mounted in the truck)that cuts
off the fuel pump if vehicle is hit in the rear. These swiches are quite
sensitive and I have heard stories of them being triggered during very
minor incidents - not necessarily a rear-end impact. Just a possibility.
