Tire friction coefficients are used as approximations over the distance skidded in the speed loss formulas.
Test skids give friction approximations for the speeds tested. Drag sleds give values for peak (static) friction as well as dynamic friction when used properly
for the weight of the sled tested. VC's Accelerometers give changes in acceleration based on changes in pitch and yaw.
Pitch and yaw vary slightly depending on several factors dependent upon the vehicle being tested. Thats why when you set up a
commercial accelerometer you input the general type of vehicle being tested. This gives a base of approximations for the
machine to use during the test. Sound wrong? Sound right? Think about it.
