Dr. Schmidt,

Just a couple of questions here. Is there a range of speeds where this analysis is appropriate(?), say lower end 5 - 15 mph, as opposed to higher end and some bottoming out of the seat resilience? Is this effect borne out by high speed films? I recall Derwyn Severy at ITTE (UCLA) did some research on this, I'll review the paper and see what it says about this event. I recall a publication giving a range of 0.3 to 0.7 for the restitution, that could essentially (nearly) triple the delta v in such an event. That someone might arbitrarily apply that generality concerns me.
