Craig,

I have seen many different forms and techniques on this subject. What I
have learned is too use the KISS principle. Don't clutter the vehicle
deformation form with redundant info. Make generic forms for two and four
door sedans, trucks, trailers, etc. Draw them to original shape, then shade
in damages. Show the PDOF. Get critical numbers, styles, etc. Gathering the
data is pretty much the same as it has been for twenty five years, if done
with ruler or tapes. Get longitudinal and lateral measurements. I like to
construct a rectangle around the deformed unit, then take measurements at
varying points around it (ie. every two feet or so). I haven't always been
able use the same method each time due to the storage facility or other
logistical problem. If you need some examples of forms, e-mail me with your
request. Glad to help. Good luck with project!
