Pete,

I think the difficulty may be with such a short mark, (1) MO's are notorious for demanding precision at such short chords and (2) One doesn't really know what the motion of the vehicle is over such a "snap shot" of motion. I mean over the entire length of the mark you're looking at less than a half second of motion, and certianly much less for the first third. Curved marks and striations do not isolate the mark as being a "critical speed" scuff. Tire makeup, ABS braking and steering, dramatic steering, etc. can all result in a curved mark showing striations and the application of Newton 2 may not be appropriate. Your results suggest the velocity from a uniform radius and assumed acceleration rate does not lend itself to this particular event.
