One reference to start with is 878 of Volume 2 of the Traffic Accident
Investigation Manual by Baker and Fricke of Northwestern. You might also
check out SAE paper 800151 "Static and Dynamic Offtracking of Articulated
Vehicles" by Bernard and Vanderploeg.

It's a tough problem particularly at higher speeds as the cornering
compliance of each axle and the cornering stiffness of the tires are factors.
