I wouldn't think that holding the tire upright would have much effect on the
measured drag force. If I recall correctly there is a photo of someone
doing exactly that in J.Stannard Bakers original accident reconstruction book
(the single volume version). On the other hand I have never really trusted
the numbers given by drag sleds although I have made and used several. I
prefer a straightforward skid test (make appropriate allowances for the brake
build up time) or a G analist
