"Faked Left" head on collision?

I have been consulted on a two car collision
that killed one of the drivers. There appears
to be the possibility that the vehicle that
encroached into the decedents lane may have been
"faked left" just prior to impact. Years ago
I read an article on the Faked Left Syndrome where
a vehicle encroches on another only to have the
"not at fault" driver enter the offenders lane
where the collision takes place. If both are
killed or neither remembers what happened and
there are no witnesses the wrong driver may be
charged. Perhaps exacting measurements of the
vehicle so that crush may be compared to extract
angles of impact are some of the only ways to
prove who came from where. Does anyone else
have any information or studies available to
review in order to come to the correct conclusion
in this case??
