My department allows me to work on accidents as a licensed private investigator in the State of Michigan. Per my own standards I do not work on cases that I have had any contact with as a police officer. Working on accidents other than those I work on while on duty helps to keep my skills up and allows testing of various theories and formulas. You must be careful not to create a conflict!!
