The Traffic Accident Reconstruction Origin -ARnews-

This is the design...
Take scrap metal from a steel manufacturer...real cheap...and fashion it
into three to four rectangle plates (12 X 6 X 1/2 ). Drill two holes
through the metal plates (about three inches from each side). On a
undrilled plate weld two bolts to the face so that it will fit
through the holes previously drilled on the other plates.
On the plate with the bolts take a strip of tire the width and length of
the plate and wrap it so that the plate rides on the tire. Fasten this to
the plate with four bolts.
You will need to weld four bolts with wing nuts (two for each side)
on the bottom plate so that you can fasten the tire. To one of the drilled
plates fasten an eye bolt to the end to allow it to be pulled.
Each drilled plate will have a weight. You can add or subtract plates to
alter the weight of the sled. The resuilts of the sled have been very close
to that of the tire sleds.
Also the size is much smaller (I have a small trunk)without causing
force/weight problems.
I'm not a great instruction writer so if you need a picture of my sled...I
use them for court...let me know and I will send one to you.
Good sledding!
