Crush Analysis

Has anyone found research or had experience that assists in supporting crush
analysis as a reliable speed determination under the following conditions.
The research would have to be able to be presented in a criminal court
setting. These questions were argued by a lawyer in my area.
I have all the references from N.W.U. resource...
Areas covered would include
T-bone Accidents - using energy calculations from crush data to determine
speed of vehicles.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Example: One vehicle T-bone's another...
Vehicle #1 has side damage with crush data resulting in energy of X.
Vehicle #2 has front damage with crush data resulting in energy of Y.
Using X+Y to find vehicle #2's speed.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Any thoughts will help!
