There is not a lot in a name but for some reason or another I am not happy with
the term accident . I have been a police officer for almost 20 years and I have
yet to see an accident involving vehicles. However I have seen thousands of
vehicle collisions. The term accident to me means something that just could
not be avoided there was absolutely nothing that could be done to prevent the
contact of the vehicles. In all of the collisions I have investigated I have
found a cause for every single one of them not one has been an accident. I do my
best to use the word collision rather than accident except in my email address
collrecons just did not ring for me. As for the word crash it just does not ring
for me either. It seems to me the word collision just sums it all up and it
does not envoke significant prejudges.
