1996 Crash Test - Vancouver B.C. Canada

The following will be of interest to any conducting research
or doing investigations in the area of truck underride crashes.

The 1996 Crash Test will be held in Vancouver B.C. Canada
on October 5th 6th 1996 (the weekend preceeding the AAAM Conference
in Vancouver). This event is presented by Members of the SAE Accident
Investigation Practices Committee (AIP) and Synectics Road Safety Research
Corporation.

The event will include:
- approximately 8 underride crash tests of mid-sized GM or Ford
passenger cars.
- repeated impacts between 15 and 35 mph
- test sets at 3 contact levels: just above the bumper hodd nose
and cowl.
- validation of repeated impact testing for underride collisions
just above the bumper.
- extension of the NHTSA underride crush stiffness data set.

Cost: $525 (US$) and includes:
- access to the test area and vehicles before and after the
crashes
- copy of the ful test results ( accelerometer history high
speed videotape crush profiles etc. Note: a summary SAE
paper is planned for Congress 1998)
