My departments has a team referred to as the Accident Investigation Team.
Within the department and in the prosecutors office, I refer to the team using Accident.
I believe with most others that usually, there is no Accident but a Collision
I started changing the term about a year ago and have had no problems. I also
found that when prosecuting a traffic case, it was best to refer to the incident
as a collision. victims and surviving famaily key in on the terms as juries do also.
