Speed estimates from crush

I am looking for published data in determining speed estimates from crush measurements. Doing the math formula is not the problem. My Department would like to start using crush but I can find little data or training. We have a total station for taking the measurements. Any information in regards to the following would be greatly appreciated.
- any published data or books available
- any training available
- where does the formula derive from
- how and where to measure
- any tips both positive and negative in using crush for speed determinations
Thank you in advance for any and all comments
