The Traffic Accident Reconstruction Origin -ARnews-
|
A 1986 olds was traveling south, a kenworth semi/trailer was west bound.
The car struck the trailer of the Semi (semi traveling a uniform speed) (35 mph)
The car was in a full breakin skid at the time of collision. The investigator measuered the damage on the car and used Crush to determine the impact speed of the car.
My question is this, can Crush be used in this type of situation with anytype of certainty, It was always my understanding that Crush was not very reliable and had up to a 40 percent error rate.
I've spoke with other people (Police Officers /Private) in the field of Accident Reconstruction and they have never heard of anyone using Crush as described in the above situation. Can anyone provide me with any information on the error rate of crush???
Thank you very much
