Kevin,
I have been doing criminal reconstructions for about 3 years and private
for about 2 years. I still consider myself a rookie especially when it
comes to civil reconstructions. There's a lot to learn and I've found most
of the time it's trial and error. The math, evidence collection, and other
physical aspects aren't a problem, and they are the most critical for
accuracy. I find the most difficult part is the civil system.

Doing both in my opinion is really the best way. I get an average of one
(civil) reconstruction every month or so, which pays much better than the
officers that work security 30 hours a week. Being an officer opens doors
that wouldn't open for civilians. And if I have a dry spell, I still have
a check coming in.

If I have questions I ask other reconstructionists, my instructor, or research
it (the Internet has a wealth of info), I have gained a lot of information
from this web site.

I have found that telling people up front I'm relatively new to the field is
the best way to go. Your experience will come out anyway. I've found people will
not look down on you, or fire you, If you have a question. I had one attorney
tell me they preferred someone less experienced because the veterans tend to
be too confident in their abilities.

Any specific questions you might have, feel free to E-mail me.
