Hooke's Law: F = kx, where k is spring stiffness and x is displacement can be solved as the amount of Work performed during the displacement (area under the curve) by integrating and then:

Fd = 1/2*k*xi^2 - 1/2*k*xf^2.

That is the second order equation I was trying to imply as it relates to Hooke's Law. Sorry if I confused anyone.
