My 1993 Grand Cherokee Jeep suddenly accelerated on Nov 2 1997, crashing
into a Mobil Station destroying the building and injuring 2 people inside.
This was NOT due to pedal misapplication. Before shifting into drive, my
foot was on the brake. As I released the brake, the Jeep took off like a
bullet, into full open throttle crashing into the building. It happened 2
years ago, at which time the dealership claims they replaced the throttle
positioning sensor. The problem is with the throttle positioning sensor and
the electronic control unit. If it was due to pedal misapplication, all
vehicles of all makes would have this problem. The brake shift interlock will
not correct the problem with the throttle control sensors. Please call me
508-238-4052 if this has happened to you. Dealership refuses to release records
