tests for the same reason we wanted them. INDEPENDENT verification of what the manufacturer said it would do. The subsequent tests at MSP, SCARS and others (and next week at IAARS) have been conducted to continue this validation and explore the various "pitfalls" of the system.

Mr Haights Honesty and Integrity are BEYOND reproach. He puts himself at great personal risk (without the corresponding great personal gain I might add....) everytime he steps behind the wheel of the bullet car.

Rusty takes the time on this forum, and others, to try and sort out the wheat from the chaff, .... or the crap and tries to post meaningful information to the "asker" regardless of their background or how "simple" their inquiry may seem to the rest of us.

I should add that I must shoulder some blame for dragging him into this diatribe with you. You see, I interpreted your original posting as a LEGITIMATE request for RESEARCH information. I sent a copy of your posting to Rusty along with James Kerr at Vetronix (read paragraph one again) thinking they might be in a position to assist you. Rusty has become the "store house" of information on this topic, and arguably, one of the best known, CREDIBLE and UNBIASED sources of information on the vehicle systems and the data retrieved (read paragraph one again).

I, as a Vetronix customer, would be upset if they released my information to you or any other inquiring body without my consent (They have it). I am a satisfied customer. I (well the OPP....) paid for our units. I FAIL TO SEE the relevance or effect of paying for one or getting one for free. As previously pointed out, the on-board data does not KNOW if you paid for the system or not, nor does it care. It is OBJECTIVE data. It is answers we did not have before. I don't care WHO makes the tool. GM chose to licence it to only ONE company ask THEM why. Just to shed some light on this, think about the COST to send a GM technician to download EVERY EDR case NHTSA investigators wanted (and they CAN make GM do it). Compare that to the cost of giving NHTSA a dozen CDR kits. If you were a shareholder, which would you chose? No-brainer if you ask me.

In closing, I would ask you to read: http://www.tarorigin.com/newsmenu.html

You passed it on the way in. It sets out the "What is ARNEWS" section.
Also, please read http://www.tarorigin.com/.

If nothing else this will REFRESH your memory of what TARO is about.

Specifically:

>>>>SNIP

ARnews Rules

It is expected that news group Nettiquette be followed. Here are some general rules:

There are no hard and fast rules.
Unless explicitly stated otherwise, persons who write from a com mail address (eg: Ford.com) write as individuals, not as an official company representative.
Be constructive in your comments.
If you are being critical, be critical of the thought, not the person.

>>>>> End of SNIP

TARO is not about personal attacks.

TARO is a forum for the EXCHANGE of INFORMATION and IDEAS related to Collision Reconstruction.

If you wish to share YOUR knowledge and EXPERIENCE in this area with ALL OF US, please do.

If you need HELP with a particular CDR/EDR issue or case, fire away, thats why this community exists.

Read paragraph one again. The views expressed are MINE.
