It is my understanding that if you have skids at a motorcycle crash that they will be from the rear wheel only. If the rider does lock up the front wheel and leave it long enough to get skids, you might as well start getting the drag factor for a motorcycle on its side.
Joseph,
I am also curious if the test rider you had locked both wheels, rear wheel only , or maximum braking with no lock up.
I am a motorcycle officer, and we are taught to use the front brake to the point it starts to chirp, and no further, or bye-bye. Also if the rear wheel does lock, keep it locked. If you let off a rear wheel lockup, good chance of high side. I dont think many citizen riders know that, and agree that most will only use rear brakes, because they are taught to be scared of the front brake.
