Drag sleds are no different than any other tool employed by man.
There are situtations where they can be used and the results relied upon
and of course those situations where that is not the case.
Two problems are inherent with drag sleds the device itself and the operator.
The latter is of much greater concern. Far too often the user of the device
has failed to properly test the sled or practice with the sled.
Drag sleds are a great tool when used properly properly being when actually
conducting tests as well as knowing where and when the results can be relied upon.
It is pretty hard for a court to dismiss the results obtained with a sled when
one can present a competent understanding of the how why they work and offer
substantial numbers of occassion when the accuracy of the sled has been compared
to other methods in actual dynamic testing situations.

But there will always be somebody who will attempt to use pliers instead of a
wrench !
