Dennis:

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has been allowing this type of off duty employment for approximately five years. We were able to 'convince' our brass that according to type(s) of outside employment prohibited in our policy and proceedure manual such activity as accident reconstruction was not covered. Of course those of us who participate in such activities walk daily on the egg shells of conflict of interest . We voluntarily submitted to a trial period to determine any negative responses of which there were none.
