With eight years experience creating forensic maps with cad, ori.
trained with Autocad, I have found that any 2d cad program will
supply law enforcement or cousultants with an adequate tool.
You should look for a short learning curve and value, (power of the tool).
Whether you choose Autosketch (about $100.00), or Drafix Cad Professional
(about $150.00 upgrade price, now owned by Autodesk) you can complete
professional CAD drawings. You should avail yourself to some type training.
A basic understanding of how these programs function is important.
I am the instructor of Advanced Scene Investigation, using CAD and
Forensic Mapping at TEEX, Texas A M University and manage eight
total stations for the Kansas Highway Patrol. No matter what you use,
understand it and practice.
