A few months of on the job relationship with a Sokkia Set 6F and the SDR-33 data recorder have
made me a believer. The system at first seems a bit complex but, the "feature code library"
can be tailored to your specifications. If you want to call something a "skid mark", just
input that term once into the library and forever you will have a skid mark a few keystrokes
away. The software is simple as well, just import from the SDR-33 into your PC via serial
connection and the software will convert it to a format that can easily be used by AutoCAD
or AutoCAD LT.

Another thing that I have learned along the way deals with the hand-held LASER mapping devices.
One of the most popular is from LTI. The thing works and it will draw a good map but, all of the
measurements are taken along the "slope" of the viewer's line of sight. At some ngles, this could
introduce quite a bit of error.

Hope this helps...I have only limited experience with these devices outside of the Sokkia but, I'm
sure a bit of shopping around will point you in the right direction. The bottom line is that I can't
believe I got by for so many years without this thing!!!
