Photographing faint skid marks

Does anyone have any good methods of photographing faint skid marks (i.e. filters,
camera angles, lighting, etc.). I have "bracketed" a number of photographs and
used a number of different types of film. Perhaps, there is a better method I'm not
aware of? If you perform a lot of "after accident" photography and has a good
method to "enhance" thier photos, please advise.
Right now, I take photographs of the scene showing the beginning and end of the
skid marks, then mark the beginning and end with chalk, then re-shoot a series
of photographs?
Is there a better method?
