ACTAR Accreditation

I am interested in hearing what anyone's opinions might be regarding ACTAR
accreditation. When I registered to write the accreditation exam I was
provided with a selection of eight sample questions (including answers).
Reviewing these questions I found that at least one of the supplied answers
was wrong and that several of the other questions were so poorly composed
that there could have been several correct answers. I wrote a letter to
ACTAR regarding this and received no response. Subsequently I wrote the
accreditation exam and passed. However I found that a number of the
questions in the exam were just as poorly written. After receiving my
accreditation I again wrote to ACTAR and again received no response. It
strikes me that if ACTAR is going to have any credibility it is essential
that they respond to criticism from their own members.

Another thing that became apparent to me after writing the exam was that
it wasn't really a test of one's ability to interpret the type of evidence
which is often encountered during investigation of a motor vehicle accident.
Being able to pass the accreditation exam is an inadequate test of one's
ability to perform accident reconstruction.
